Lockout Tagout
What are the wheel size limitations of the adjustable valve lockout?
Here’s question we get asked a lot. What are the valve size limits (maximum and minimum) of the VLO-BAN-F15 adjustable valve lockout?
The VLO-BAN-F16 is designed to accommodate valve wheels of varying sizes. But just what are the maximum and minimum limits; or in other words, what’s the largest and smallest valve wheel it can be used on.
To answer this, we plotted out the design on SolidWorks 3D CAD design, and super-imposed valve wheels of varying sizes.
At the smaller end of the size range, the size is limited by the cut-out in the underside of the device. A wheel below 70mm (2-3/4″) would not be retained by the device. Therefore we recommend a wheel no less than 85mm (3-1/4″) diameter.
At the larger end of the size range, the size is limited by the positioning of the padlock holes. If the wheel is larger than 172mm (6-3/4″), it won’t be possible to align the padlock holes in the two halves.
So there you have it. VLO-BAN-F16 adjustable valve lockout:
Maximum wheel size: 172mm (6-3/4″)
Minimum wheel size: 85mm (3-1/4″)
